Background:
Wayne Stalick received his B.A. in Chemistry at the
University of Oregon
and his Ph.D. in organic chemistry at
Northwestern
University in Evanston, Illinois in 1969. After a year teaching at
San Jose State University and a two year postdoc at Ohio State University
with Mel Newman, he joined the George Mason faculty as an Assistant
Professor, promoted to Professor in 1987.
Research Interests:
Synthetic techniques in organic chemistry and the synthesis of
nitrogen heterocyclic compounds. Additional areas of study include the
chemistry of petroleum products: catalytic reactions of hydrocarbones,
pyrolysis of long chain alkylaromatic compounds and organometallic
chemistry. Dr. Stalick is a member of The American Chemical Society,
The Chemical Society of Washington, The Organic Division of ACS, THE
International Society of Heterocyclic Chemists, Phi Lambda Upsilon, Sigma Xi
and The Virginia Academy of Science.
